Ukrainian officials announced on August 27 that the new attack by Russian military drones targeted six regions, causing serious damage to many energy and gas infrastructure.

In a statement on Telegram, the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy said that Russian UAVs had “significantly destroyed” gas transport infrastructure in Poltava province (northern Ukraine) and attacked many transformer stations in neighboring Sumy province.

Many important areas in the north of the city of Sumy (in the province of the same name) were cut off from emergency power on August 27.

Mr. Serhii Kryvosheienko – head of the Sumy City Military Administration – said that as of the morning of August 27, the city had to rely on emergency backup water sources due to damage to many electricity and water facilities.

Since the beginning of this year, the Russian military’s attacks have caused Ukraine’s gas production to decrease by 40%, according to Reuters.

The Ukrainian Air Force announced on August 27 that its air defenses had shot down 74 out of 95 Russian UAVs. 21 UAVs that penetrated the air defense network attacked 9 locations.
