LOS ANGELES — In a dramatic battle that came down to the last at-bat, Freddie Freeman emerged as the hero with a home run in the ninth inning, giving the Los Angeles Dodgers a 4–3 victory over the Minnesota Twins at home.
It wasn’t just the Dodgers’ 60th win of the season, but it was also a high-level emotional display from two big stars: Shohei Ohtani and Tyler Glasnow.
Ohtani: A Symphony of Health and Consistency
Shohei Ohtani continued to show why he’s the center of the pack this year, hitting his 37th home run of the season, marking his fifth straight homer — the longest streak by a Dodgers player since 2001.
“He’s just blowing up the stadium with one swing,” manager Dave Roberts said. “We don’t know what else can stop Ohtani.”
The home run not only pulled the Dodgers back into the game, it also kept Ohtani’s explosive streak alive, keeping him leading the MVP race in both leagues.
Tyler Glasnow — The Silent Warrior on the Baseball Side
Tasked with extended duty, Glasnow was solid:
7 innings, allowing just one run,
12 strikeouts — his most of the season.
Glasnow didn’t allow the Twins many chances to run up the score throughout the period and took control of the game, and the Dodgers held the game together before managing the bullpen again.
A Breathtaking 9th – And the Fateful Walk-Off
After the Twins took a 3–2 lead in the 8th on Carlos Correa’s double, the Dodgers didn’t wait long to respond.
Ohtani was intentionally walked after Mookie Betts stole a base.
Esteury Ruiz walked again, creating a 2-on, 2-out game.
And Freddie Freeman stepped up…
A low hit to left that flew over the shortstop’s head, sending both Betts and Ohtani home.
Dodgers 4 – Twins 3. Walk. Wrigley bombed.
“You couldn’t have written a better script,” Freeman laughed after the game. “And I just did what I had to do.”
The Dodgers improved to 60-43, maintaining their lead at the top of the NL West and setting the tone for the upcoming series.
The Twins dropped to 49-53, and their away loss streak continues to weigh on the entire franchise.
The Dodgers will next host the Giants in a home series that begins this weekend — and with Ohtani, Freeman, and Glasnow on the rise, no one is discounting them.
