Chuck Woolery, Original Host of ‘Wheel of Fortune,’ Passes Away at 83.Linh

Legendary game show host Chuck Woolery, who became the first host of ‘Wheel of Fortune,’ passed away on Saturday at the age of 83.

The news of Woolery’s passing was shared by his friend and podcast co-host Mark Young through a post on X.

“It is with a broken heart that I tell you that my dear brother @chuckwoolery has just passed away. Life will not be the same without him, RIP brother,” Dr. Mark Young wrote.

 

Although emergency services were called immediately, Woolery could not be revived.

Woolery’s major career breakthrough came in 1975 when he was selected as the original host of ‘Wheel of Fortune.’

He continued hosting the show until 1981, at which point Pat Sajak stepped into the role.

Later, Woolery went on to host other popular shows such as ‘Love Connection,’ ‘Scrabble,’ and a reboot of ‘The Dating Game.’

He is survived by his wife Kim and his four children: Katherine, Melissa, Michael, and Sean.

The cause of his death has not yet been disclosed.
