According to MailSport, Barcelona is considering ending Marcus Rashford’s loan from Manchester United earlier than expected after just a few appearances.
A disappointing start
Rashford joined Barcelona on a one-year loan deal at the end of July, with a buy option worth €30 million. Despite being expected to bring new energy to the attack, the 27-year-old has yet to make an impact, recording 0 goals and 0 assists in 3 appearances. In his first start against Levante, Rashford was even substituted at halftime when the team was trailing.
Hansi Flick’s patience running out
Head coach Hansi Flick initially showed patience, believing Rashford needed more time to adapt. However, the forward’s lack of efficiency and low impact on the pitch is testing Flick’s tolerance. Reports suggest the German manager wants Rashford to improve his pressing, fitness, and decisiveness if he is to remain in his plans.
Struggling for a place
Rashford is facing fierce competition for attacking spots at Barcelona, with players like Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Ferran Torres, Dani Olmo, and Robert Lewandowski already in the squad. This makes his battle for a starting role even more difficult.
Uncertain future
Although his loan deal is still valid, the possibility of Rashford being sent back to Old Trafford early cannot be ruled out if his form doesn’t improve. Barcelona retains the right to either activate the buy option or terminate the agreement.
