Was anyone else overwhelmed by their attire over the weekend? Each time you updated your Instagram feed, a deluge of new looks from your preferred fashion influencers awaited you to analyze.
What has caused the deluge of fashion inspiration? The social schedules of celebrities have been jam-packed with A-list events in recent days. As a result of attending the 2023 Academy Museum Gala on Sunday evening, the Balenciaga Pre-Fall 2024 runway show on Saturday afternoon, and the 2023 Fashion Awards in London on Monday, it was difficult for me to keep up with the abundance of exceptional ensembles.
Despite the fact that the week’s buzziest events have sadly halted, there is one red carpet ensemble that remains rent-free in my mind: Billie Eilish’s seductively infused workwear ensemble.
The Plunging Pinstripes of Billie
Eilish, along with fashion icons Zo Kravitz, Kendall Jenner, Selena Gomez, and Hailey Bieber, attended the 2023 Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on December 3. Although the majority of the celebrity ensemble appeared to adhere to an unofficial motif of holiday-appropriate choices, Eilish distinguished herself in a somber coordinating set that was more suited for a workday.
The “What Was I Made For?” singer adorned herself in a brown pinstripe blazer and maxi skirt that were a cohesive ensemble and were designed by Jean Paul Gaultier. The upper portion of the jacket featured a tailored silhouette and was adorned with attention-grabbing shoulder padding and lapels. She opted for an understated column silhouette with a concealed opening at the side on the underside.
Although the overall silhouette, which resembled businesswear, was in perfect harmony with Eilish’s preference for menswear essentials, the inclusion of a plunging neckline was a non-standard working-wear element that the singer rarely incorporated into her ensembles (consider her Met Gala looks from the past three years).
