New York City’s Mayor Eric Adams is embroiled in a scandal following bombshell FBI allegations that accuse him of illegally accepting opulent accommodations and travel perks, including $7,000 suites and yacht excursions.

Eric Adams is accused of accepting extravagant travel and hospitality perks offered by individuals aiming to “seek influence over him” during his visits to Turkey on several occasions.

In a shocking revelation, it’s alleged that in July and August 2017, Adams, along with a family member and an associate, paid a mere $600 for what should have been a $7,000 two-night stay in a luxury suite.

cy, the hotel owner attempted to curry favor with Adams by offering him this significantly discounted accommodation.

Adams reportedly stayed in the opulent Bentley Suite at the St. Regis Istanbul in 2017, a room inspired by the luxury car brand and measuring a grand 125sqm or 1345sqft, complete with a marble bathroom, reports the Irish Star.

The suite, as described on Marriott.com, would have provided Adams with a separate living area, a king-sized bed, and even butler service.

The St Regis Istanbul has taken to Instagram to flaunt the Bentley Suite’s features, which include a “special champagne cabinet” integrated into a sprawling, cream leather sofa set against a backdrop of panoramic windows.

Further allegations from 2019 claim that Adams enjoyed the equally sumptuous Cosmopolitan suite without charge, where a two-day stay would typically tally up to $3,000, as per official records.

During this period, it’s alleged that Adams “also solicited and accepted from the Promoter free transportation, meals, and entertainment, including a car and driver, a boat tour to the Princes’ Islands in the Sea of Marmara, a Turkish bath at a seaside hotel, and at least one meal at a high-end restaurant,” according to the documents.

The FBI alleges that Adams “did not disclose any of these trips on his annual disclosure forms, despite a legal requirement to do so” and he did this “In order to conceal the valuable flight, hotel, and other travel benefits that ERIC ADAMS, the defendant, accepted from foreign nationals seeking influence over him.”

Eric Adams has responded to the indictment today, asserting that he will not resign as NYC mayor. He stated that he was not surprised and that city business will proceed as normal.

“It’s an unfortunate day, it’s a painful day,” Adams said.
