Armie Hammer Reflects on Exploring His Sexuality: ‘It Did Absolutely Nothing for Me’
Armie Hammer is opening up about his past experiences and self-discovery.
On the latest episode of The Armie HammerTime Podcast released on March 3, the 38-year-old actor sat down with actress and mental health coach Dani Druz to discuss topics including addiction, recovery, and navigating Hollywood.
During their conversation, Hammer shared a personal story about his attempt to explore his sexuality, recalling a time when he tried “hooking up with a dude.”
“It was hilarious because I thought, you know what, women can be complicated,” Hammer joked. “Gay men seem to have it so easy.” He recounted receiving a message on Grindr while at a restaurant, describing how direct the interactions seemed.
Curious about the experience, Hammer decided to meet up with a man. “He was handsome, French, the whole thing. I thought, okay, let’s give this a shot,” he recalled.
However, as they started making out, he quickly realized it wasn’t for him. “I remember thinking, ‘Urgh, beards. I get why women like it when guys shave.’ It felt rough. Then I put my arms around him and thought, ‘Wow, his shoulders are so broad, he’s almost my height. This is so strange.’”
Despite the interaction intensifying, Hammer admitted that physically, he felt “absolutely nothing.” When his partner attempted to go further, Hammer stopped the encounter. “I had to tell him, ‘This is not going to happen. I’m sorry,’” he shared.
Hammer didn’t specify when the experience took place but continued his discussion with Druz about sexuality and addiction.
This revelation follows his February 11 appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast, where he acknowledged his past behavior in relationships, admitting to “love bombing” partners before abruptly withdrawing.
“Is it a—— behavior? Absolutely,” he admitted. “Does it make me a dick? Yes, and I have no problem admitting that.”
Hammer shares two children—Harper, 10, and Ford, 8—with his ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers. While reflecting on his past, he now appears focused on personal growth and self-awareness.
