Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch Enforce Strict Screen Time Ban for Their Kids and Share Hilarious Relationship Stories
Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch have revealed a strict parenting rule they’ve implemented to improve their children’s behavior—banning iPads and phones.
Speaking on their podcast, The Therapy Crouch, Peter explained how they made the decision to cut out screens over Christmas and have stuck to it ever since. “We said to them iPads and phones are gone, and I feel we’ve stuck to that,” the former footballer, 44, shared. “We made a conscious effort amongst ourselves to cut them out, and they’ve properly cut them out.”
In addition to limiting screen time, the couple also enforces rules around focusing on homework and spending quality time together as a family before unwinding in the evening once their four kids are in bed.
Abbey’s Awkward Valentine’s Day Surprise
While discussing their parenting approach, the couple also took a trip down memory lane, reminiscing about one of Abbey’s most awkward Valentine’s Day experiences.
Abbey, 39, recalled how she went all out for the occasion years ago, dressing up in a full Agent Provocateur lingerie set under a chic trench coat, expecting a romantic night away. However, Peter had something else planned—a cozy dinner at home, complete with a private chef.
“So me and him are sitting at the table, and I’ve got the full coat on. Pete’s like, ‘Take your coat off,’ and I’m like, ‘Oh no, it’s a bit chilly in here,’” Abbey laughed.
To make matters more uncomfortable, the private chef stayed at the table for every course of the meal. “I literally only had AP on underneath. It was so awkward,” she admitted.
Peter later joked that this experience is why he now buys Abbey a Burberry coat every Valentine’s Day. “You should’ve told me,” he laughed, to which Abbey replied, “I know. By the end of the meal, I was stuffed, and I put the fleece dressing gown back on.”
Abbey and Peter’s First Date Blunder
The couple also shared details of their not-so-glamorous first date. Abbey revealed that when they first started dating, she was 19, living with her mom, and had very little money.
“I had like £7 to go on this date with Peter. And then I said, ‘Oh, I’ll get the next one,’ and he went, ‘Oh, I’ll have a Guinness,’” she recalled.
Panicking about whether she could afford the drink, Abbey ended up ordering Peter’s Guinness and a tap water for herself. When Peter asked why she wasn’t drinking, she quickly lied, saying she was just “thirsty.”
Peter burst into laughter recalling the moment, while Abbey scolded him for his “not very good manners.” She also revealed that after their date, Peter tried to convince her to come back to his house by pointing out that he lived just across the street from the pub. “I was like, ‘No, take me home now!’” she laughed.
Open Conversations About Their Marriage
Abbey and Peter have never shied away from discussing their relationship candidly on their podcast. Abbey has previously joked about her more reserved approach at the beginning of their relationship, stating she “made Peter wait before sleeping with him because she isn’t a complete ho,” but later described her approach as “lady on the street, freak in bed.”
The couple also humorously discussed Peter’s “secret signal” for intimacy, with Abbey complaining about the emojis he sends when they have the house to themselves.
“If the kids go to school and he hears me put the key in the door, I just get a beaver and an aubergine emoji text. How vile is that?” she said. “Am I supposed to go, ‘Oh yeah, now I’m bang up for it’?”
Despite their playful jabs at each other, Abbey and Peter continue to entertain fans with their open, humorous, and down-to-earth discussions about marriage, parenting, and their everyday lives.
